Program Areas

Shop for a Cause with Momentum

Purpose: Our community thrift store, Shop For A Cause With Momentum, turns donated goods into program funding.

 

Outcome: Families gain affordable access to quality essentials while net proceeds sustain youth  programs and provide targeted assistance to mentee families and community needs.

 

Initiatives:
1. Creates part-time jobs for the community.
2. Provides tax-deductible receipts at drop-offs and pick-ups.
3. Families shop quality items at fair prices.
4. Net proceeds (after expenses) support mentee families in need, emergency assistance, community
events, and program costs.
5. Gives donors and shoppers an opportunity for the things they love to help someone else at a decent
price.
6. Provides clothing for the Professional Wear Closet, Prom Wear Closet, and Special Event Closet.

Tools for Success Fundays

Purpose: Provide students and families with dignity-centered essentials that remove barriers to learning—through choice-based events and seasonal refills.

Outcome: Students return to school prepared, confident, and ready to succeed throughout the year.

Initiative 1: Tools for Success Funday (Back to School with Dignity)
A signature, choice-based back-to-school experience where students “shop” for what they need to start the school year strong.

  • Choice-based school supply shopping experience stations (no pre-packed bags)
  • Backpacks, Hygiene kits / dignity essentials & grade-level school supplies
  • Haircuts and simple hairstyles (as available through partners)
  • Vision screenings to identify students who may need glasses (as available)
  • STEM activity stations (hands-on learning) & College & career resources for older students
  • Anti-bullying / social wellness resource booths
  • Partner & community booths connecting families to year-round support
  • Snacks, drinks, and family-friendly activities 

Initiative 2: Midyear Momentum Refresh (Winter Clothing & Supply Refill) — Dec 1–Jan 10
A winter-break distribution program that replenishes essentials, so students return after the holiday break ready for the second half of the school year.

  • Winter clothing essentials (new + gently used) & Shoes (as needed/available)
  • School supply refills (bookbag, paper, pencils, folders & etc.) & Hygiene supply refills
  • Advance registration is required to confirm needs/sizes & to schedule pickup/drop-off for approved households
  • Partner connections and follow-up resources in emergency need situations

Pathways Beyond Boundaries

Purpose: Curated trips that help youth see neighborhoods, homes, campuses, museums, and workplaces beyond their own.

 

Outcome: Exposure to new environments that expand youth understanding of lifestyle, opportunity,  and possibility – and help them connect what they see to goals for their own future.

 

Initiatives:
1. Pre-trip workshops preparing youth with context, expectations, and cultural awareness.
2. Career & Explore Passport Book – logs activities completed at each site to deepen engagement.
3. College Passport Book – logs activities completed at each site to deepen engagement.
4. Guided reflection sessions that help youth unpack what they saw and how it applies to their future.
5. Transportation, meals, and materials provided on all tours to ensure every child can participate
without barriers.

Career Connections

Purpose: Career exposure and pathway support that connects youth to professionals, training programs, and real-world experiences – so they can explore options and build job-ready skills.

 

Outcome: Youth increase career awareness, develop practical workforce skills, and leave with an actionable plan and supportive network to move from school to employment, training, or college.

 

Initiatives:
1. Employer site visits.
2. Trade and apprenticeship connections.
3. College tours.
4. Resume clinics with mock interviews.
5. Professional etiquette and workplace readiness training.
6. Communication and teamwork talks.
7. Career pathway mapping to help students plan actionable steps from high school to careers.
8. Success networking sessions with mentors, industry leaders, and community partners.

Family Right Now

Purpose: Family support focused on meeting immediate and seasonal needs so households can stabilize,
stay engaged in school and community, and continue progressing toward long-term goals.

 

Outcome: Families experience short-term relief during high-need moments, improved stability, and stronger connection to resources that support youth success at home and in school.


Initiatives:
1. Pride for Parents Christmas shopping at a discount or free.

2. Professional Wear Closet.
3. Prom Wear and Special Event Closet.
4. Community Food &

  • Essentials Pantry

  • Snack boxes for kids.

Empowered Leaders Academy

Purpose: A leadership development pathway combining mentorship, academic support, life skills, and workforce readiness to help youth build confidence, capability, and a clear plan forward.


Outcome: Youth strengthen leadership and resiliency, improve academic performance, build financial and life skills, and gain job-ready preparation – including introductory certifications and professional
readiness.


Initiatives:
1. Mentorship & Coaching

  • Leader Labs – personalized guidance to build confidence, leadership, resiliency, and positive
    decision-making.
  • Academic Tutoring & Study Support.

2. Financial Literacy & Life Skills (real-world lessons in)

  • Credit classes.
  • Career planning.
  • Smart decision-making / critical thinking.
  • SAT testing strategy.

3. Workforce Readiness

  • Interview prep.
  • Resume coaching.
  • Workplace skills.
  • Introductory certifications: Microsoft Word and Excel.
